How sadly prophetic our friend cityblue was with that statement. But the Football Association's outright cowardice/hypocrisy is now there for all too see. This is from BBC Sport. John Terry's trial for racially abusing Anton Ferdinand is now pushed back to July 9.
The key point. July 9 is not only after the European Championsips but it will be in the midst of Olympic Fever sweeping the country. What a perfect time to hold a whitewashing exercise.
One of the old protest chants is "Justice delayed is justice denied." This incident occurred Oct. 23 and 8 1/2 months later (!!!) it will be adjudicated.
Compare that with the Luis Suarez-Patrice Evra situation. That occurred Oct. 15. Suarez was charged Nov. 17 (25 days later) and Suarez was suspended Dec. 21. The Football Association investigated, charged, tried and convicted Suarez in a two-month time frame!
This time when it involves two English players, one of whom is currently the captain of the national side, they are more than happy to hide behind a London magistrate. There is no investigation into this matter even though this happened on a football pitch just as the previous incident did.

This is scandalous. The people at the board of the Football Association have no moral authority on this issue or indeed on many issues dealing with football in England. Sack every last one of them because they are doing the cause of football harm in England as well as the cause of fighting racism in the game.

No one will ever feel too sorry for Manchester City and you certainly won't find me in that group, but they were the victims of a monstrous decision once again yesterday in a 1-0 defeat to Everton.
How Tim Howard didn't concede a penalty for clearly going through the back of Joleon Lescott is beyond me. To give a foul against Lescott (jostling with an Everton defender for a ball he had a right to) was a complete nonsense. Fair play to Everton, they defended well, Tim Howard made a fantastic save on David Silva and Darren Gibson came up with a terrific goal. But if that penalty is given, what would've happened.

Liverpool have had a pretty good week. Through to their first cup final since the New Wembley opened by knocking Manchester City out of the Carling Cup. Then dumping Manchester United out of the FA Cup with a late goal, but their result Tuesday night might be the most significant one of all for a few reasons. First the Reds may have slain their dragon of playing down to the competition. After 45 minutes it looked like the same old Liverpool, dominate the game but find a way to win or even lose. Charlie Adam set up Andy Carroll (so vital for the confidence of both players) and Liverpool crushed Wolves in the second half and won comfortably. Results like that give Liverpool a chance at fourth spot. Meanwhile there were Mick out signs at Molineux. If Wolves sack him they are as good as relegated.

Manchester United and Spurs weren't particularly brilliant (except for Gareth Bale) but they did what had to be done in the wake of Manchester City's Merseyside nightmare, they won with minimum of fuss. Spurs are still rueing Jermaine Defoe's miss at the death at Manchester City but they are still right in this title race. The Red Devils must be quietly confident that they can overtake a wobbling City side as well.

Swansea meanwhile are proving to be one of the more fun teams to watch with their passing and flowing football. They were seconds away from beating Chelsea only to drop two points due to a deflected goal from Jose Bosingwa. Hard to believe Brendan Rogers is the same manager who flopped so badly at Reading. He's working wonders at the Liberty and they (and Norwich) would need a Blackpool/Hull type collapse to go down this season. Chelsea are a mess. Buy Gary Cahill and sit him on the bench for this match? Why? Ashley Cole sent off for two bookable offences and out for the key match with Manchester United this weekend. In general a poor performance without putting the kind of pressure a team with Chelsea's resources should put on a promoted side. They are fourth for now, but sit only 4 points ahead of Liverpool and will only be 3 ahead of Arsenal and Newcastle if they win tonight. And the only way for Chelsea to improve is a dramatic upturn in form from the old guard or a return to form from someone like Michael Essien. That can't be a comforting thought for the top brass at Stamford Bridge.

Got up just in time to watch most of the fifth set of one of the greatest athletic contests that's ever been played out. Novak Djokovic, coming off a five-set epic semifinal against Andy Murray, somehow found the reserve to rally from 4-2 down in the fifth to defeat Rafael Nadal in a seventh consecutive final.

5 hours, 53 minutes
5-7, 6-4, 6-2, 6-7 (7-5), 7-5

Nadal's place in the sport as a legend is sealed as far as I am concerned. He has one citadel left. One place where Djokovic has not stood victor over him, Roland Garros. I will be desperately disappointed if we don't get Nadal vs. Djokovic in the finals of the French Open. If Djokovic can win there, then a Grand Slam would be a real possibility.
